Just got back from the film. It is funny in two different ways. If one accepts the premise of the film, that is, "here is this clueless geek from unknownistan trying to learn American customs and culture," one can easily laugh at his mishaps and cultural malaprops. On the other hand, as one who has spent some time outside the US, I can easily imagine the producers repackaging the film for non-US viewers with the premise: "Look at all the stuff we were able to pull off against these dumb shit Americans." Borat will in all likelihood be the film industry's analog to the music industry's "crossover hit."

While your premise might be right, I certainly hope you're wrong.
What I love is how the supposed multi-culti-all-tolerant New Yorkers are the least tolerant of his cultural peculiarities. LOL.
The movie's still a hoot, and I still, 10 days later, occasionally chuckle.
