"Dr. Dobson, and everyone else who is concerned about this trivial nonsense, had better focus on the election for the next few days.
"

They can't. Their egos prohibit it. They must speak out at every opportunity, even when they don't know what they are talking about.

This is the biggest failing of people like Dobson. He thinks himself to be important, so he believes everyone is holding their collective breath, waiting for his pronouncements.

Holding one's tongue is a virtue unknown to most public figures.

You are wrong. People are looking to Dobson for some response. In fact, his wb site was so bombarded earlier today that it was down. Dobson has not responded to this situation out of ego.

Ted Haggard's church is in Colorado Springs, the same town that Focus on the Family is. They both work closely together on many projects. James Dobson could not be silent on this because the Christian's who know Dobson know he is very close to Haggard. It is not about ego, I assure you of that.

"Dr. Dobson refused to comment to reporters" - which would make it an even bigger issue. I'm no fan of Dr. Dobson, but I think he took a nice, low-key approach.

You're probably right, about Dobson and some of these leaders, anyway.

I think you mean "non-evangelistic atheist"...

or, "non-evangelizing atheist." Or "non-evangelist athiest."

At least, I take your intended meaning to be, "I'm an atheist, but I don't proselytize for atheism?"

To say, "non-evangelical atheist" is like saying "non-Lutheran atheist" or "non-Mormon atheist"--
