Just take out 55 seats. I'm fine with that.

Just remove the "Air" and call it a bus. (Better remove the
wings too.)

A couple of observations.
1) Almost all aircraft end up being overweight, either on first flight, or sometime during the design phase. Some just stay that way and they live with it. (Usually a combination of living with it, and some reduction in weight)
2)While 5 tons sounds like a lot, they don't say what the target for max takeoff weight, or for that matter max dry weight, is. If it's 1000 tons, well, 5 tons isn't' much, If it's 100 tons, it's much more significant.
According to the Airbus site ( http://www.airbus.com/en/aircraftfamilies/a380/a380/specifications.html ) the dry weight of an A380 is specified as 361 tonnes, with a max T/O weight of 560 tonnes and max ramp weight of 562 tonnes. Typical payload is listed as 66.4 tonnes. So 5 tonnes would represent a significant, but not crippling, loss of payload, but not so much a loss of fuel/range (note they allow for burning off 2 tonnes, between ramp and takeoff).
All that said, I hope Boeing rips their knickers, as I expect to happen.
