Untrue. All models of the Mannlicher-Carcano are fine rifles. They have superior triggers. The 6.5mm Carcano cartridge is a modern, accurate round thoroughly capable of hunting African big game including elephants.

These rifles were popular African safari rifles amongst Italian big game hunters in the first half of the last century. Military models of the Mannlicher-Carcano slaughtered tens of thousands of Ethiopians in the years before WWII.
