So what did they put on the ground at the finish line that he slipped on? I wouldn't be surprised if the organizers get sued.

Looks like he slipped on "Dirty" Harry Reid.

This was truly horrible...he fell back and hit his head hard!

I ran the Chicago Marathon years ago (4:17...since you asked...LOL!!!)

It usually is wet and horrible...and the organizers deserve to be sued....

Athletic non-skid serfaces have been available for years!!! I have never seen this kind of thing at a finish line.

The finishers are fatigued...and they would trip, if not slide, like this guy!

I'll never understand why the run this thing in October. It practically guarantees crappy weather for the runners.

"sued"

I hope so. Poor guy.. trains, sacrifices, does. I hope he gets a trillion bucks.

Having a finish line a runner could slip on is an odious and wicked act of negligence. I can't imagine being more repulsed.

Saw it on the news tonight and *ouch*! Thanks for the info on his injury - I never heard how badly he was hurt or even *if* he was, just knew it looked really bad.

That video is excruciating to watch. You also have to wonder how smart it was for those officials to essentially make him get up to his feet like that right after without having any idea how bad his head injury was. OUCH! So glad to hear that he'll be OK.
