The Yankees get into alot of brawls.
Look at the second one on the website. Someone actually knocked a 73 year old guy down.

Someone actually knocked a 73 year old guy down. Pedro Martinez (then of the Red Sox) throwing down coach Don Zimmer. .....but to be fair, Zim initiated it.

One of my favorites was seeing Nolan Ryan use Robin Ventura's head as a speed bag.

Does 5 cent beer night in Cleveland in 1973 count as a brawl. LOL
Of course one brawl I remember was game 3 of the 1973 NLCS when Pete Rose and Bud Harrelson got into a fight. That fight was so big it knocked the news a Spiro Agnew resigning off the front page.

That one made the list.
Here ya go...
The Mets were routing the Reds 9-2 in Game 3 of the NLCS when Rose slid hard into Mets shortstop Harrelson at second to break up a double play. Rose was upset about comments Harrelson had made in the press and shoved Harrelson, who swung his elbow. Fists started flying as both benches emptied. Pedro Borbon of the Reds and Buzz Capra of the Mets also went mano a mano, with Borbon ending up with the wrong cap -- a Mets cap -- on his head. When he realized what he had done, he bit a chunk out of it.

Rudy Tomjanovich almost getting freaking killed by a punch to the face from Kermit Washington didn't make the list?

In general, baseball fights resemble pillow fights at a sorority. Occasionally, though, they can actually become violent.

I love this picture. One thing about this picture is that Nolan Ryan knew how to throw more things than a 100 MPH fastball.

Perhaps I'm just old-fashioned, but I think that penalties for fighting in sports, except in hockey where it is expected and even encouraged, should be much more severe.
Ejections, muti-game suspensions and fines consistent with the pro atheletes income level. Penalties should rachet up for repeat offenders.

That was Pedro "Who's your Daddy" Martinez who was with the Red Sox then and now pitches for the Mets. But it was the 73 year old Zimmer who charged out of the dugout after Martinez and Pedro threw him to the ground. Lots of bad press for Pedro, but it was the feisty Zimmer who started it. LOL

Some of the best Yankee fights were between manager Billy Martin and slugger Reggie Jackson. No punches traded but great verbal battles.

Ventura learned that the hard way and got a bloody nose to boot!
One of my friends was at that game, and he said the umps were letting Ryan have his way for the first few seconds. I thought that was really a funny incident.

It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I thought he was an idiot when he charged the mound. It didn't take long to remove any doubt. Ryan put him in that headlock so fast I bet he thought his head was going to pop off. A good embarrassing lesson he deserved.
