Bottom of 8th, Beltran 3-1, no out. Looks confident. Walks on a high outside fastball that Bob Yeuker would love ("Jusssssst outside").

Beltran on first, no out.

The Cat scoping the raindrops and the stadium. Randy Flores pitches to 1-2 (excellent hot, fastballs for a lefty) and delgato takes a very nice curve for 2-2. Same pitch, delgato swings and throws his bat almost to the shortstop. It's wet out there, sportsfans. Someone could get beened. CALLED strike three! The cat is bald.

Wright now up. Flores will remain. 0-1. Wright takes two balls (future congressman??). OH, 1-2 on a questionable call by the first base umpire. Flores bounces a curveball, now 3-1 one out. Flores looks pretty calm. Sorta looks like Johnny Depp. Wright takes stike 2, now full count, one out, Beltran on first. Strike three. Flores looks good.

I'm bored. Hey, there's a baseball game on TV, I wonder if FR has a live thread? Yes, it does. Cool. Or as they say in SP, "niiiceeee".

And it looks like it's raining.

9th inning coming up.

Sean Green up, the Dodger-by-heart (and so a loser). Weekly hits to Pujols to end the inning.

Tired of these umps changng the outcome of the game. Wright clearly should have walked the pitch before he struck out.

Top of the ninth it is!. The Gamer (and gamey) Edmonds looking to be a hero or Charlie Brown. He's capable of both.

Jim Edmunds. He used to be good I think -- a defensive guy.

I stopped paying attention to baseball when they went on strike -- in 1981.

But once in a while I fall off the wagon. I remember seeing a lot of "plays of the week" with Edmunds.

Ooops. Charlie Brown. Rolen hasn't recovered from Chavez's catch. I bet he gets a distributorship for Citco from Venezuela!

Wow, a little box to show how bad the umpires are. What will Fox think of next?

Balls and strikes are exactly the kind of thing we could easily automate, and get 100% right.

That would sure ruin the game though, wouldn't it.

3-2, one out. Roland is way ahead of the pitch. Spanks the ball after a very, professional at bat. Roland on first, one out, Molina up.

2-run homer, molina. 3-1 St Louis.

Hmm. Now's probably not the time to decide which team I want to play Detroit, is it....

CHAVEZ CANNOT MAKE THE PLAY and Molina's drive clears the left field wall. Cardnical up 3-1. Little Molina pops a beauty, Shea is really quiet. I hear the raindrops.
