Interesting find. What I've never really understood is that if Buckner woulud have fielded the ball, the game was still going into extra innings. I don't think 2 runs scored on the play, only Ray Night scored on the play, right? So technically, the Sox could still have lost it in extras.

I read once that the Angels' pitcher who gave up the home run to the Red Sox in the ALCS that very year that cost them the pennant was never the same afterward and got heavily into booze and eventually committed suicide.
Ever since I read that,I've wondered how Buckner's life has gone since "that night".
