My mom said her mom was a neurotic back in the 40's. Growing up in the 70's in Yonkers my mom put the fear of god in me. I could not walk by doors, or cars, don't walk too close to the road, someone will pull me in their car....ect ect. I tell my 11 year old everyday and so does my mother about bad things that happen. I think scaring them about reality is what needs to be done at an early age.
