I was thinking about that the other day when I was babysitting; the only time they are even out of the sight of an adult is when they are in the room, but then we can still HEAR them.
That is no doubt true, but let's not think about the death penalty.
I would suggest that every daughter everywhere read Gavin De Becker's (I think that's his name) book " The Gift of Fear".
She left her friends early to go back to her dorm.
"In spite of their liberalness, doesn't VT have very old fashioned (good) gun conrol laws and is, per capita, heavily armed?"
I would think so but I don't know the actual numbers. I would expect there are at least a large number of shotguns and hunting rifles there.
Oh, man, what a tragic thing to have happened to that girl. Prayers sent for her loved ones. May God comfort them and give them strength in the difficult days ahead. I hope they catch the person responsible for murdering her.
Just saw this thread - it's just now on our local news, so I didn't know. Very sad. She was so cute! Had been very afraid of this outcome.
They said someone had been arrested - I'll go back and read the thread. Just wanted to add my condolences to her family, especially her sister who had been on all the morning shows this week.
Because there are lots of bad folks out there who either like to hurt/kill people, or who don't care if they do hurt/kill people if it meets their ends. There always have been, but I suspect many of them were taken care of by society in previous times.

I sadly had the same impression just from the story: she had contact with her friends throughout the night off & on by phone and her parents were in town. I feel very badly for them - on the news, they spoke of her both in present and past tense. This has to be so difficult, I can't even imagine.
I hope they have the psycho who did this! How could anyone harm such a beautiful creature???!!!
Our innocent children never believe there is evil in the world.
Prayers for her family.

This is just so heartbreaking. She transferred to this school. Had travelled overseas and then to come home to the US to this. Brokenhearted prayers.
Ah, s***.
There's no hiding from the evil any more ... not even in Vermont. It really was different a few years back ... something sick is creeping into our culture.
I still worry and he's been to the Army and home. Same with my daughter. Never stop worrying.
Often joke about having a Black Belt in Worry.....and I do!
Oh well, you're right! Of course he shouldn't have been put in jail...no sireeee! He should have been executed!
re; homocide/homicide..."It is probably being treaded as a homicide." So tell us, Mr. Spelling Nazi, why are they stepping on the case, instead of trying to solve it?
Because we KNOW. And rather than scare the wits out of them, we simply watch them, carefully.
This is happening all too frequent. Why can't women understand they should NEVER wander alone, especially at night.
I just feel so sad for her family, her parents were there visiting.
