Nice try, but your argument doesn't fly. We have a much higher rate of sex crimes today than we ever did in the past in our history. Prostitution in the past wasn't more prevalent than it is today, so it isn't the absence of prostitution that has resulted in a high rate of sex crimes per capita in the US.
Rather, the widespread availability of pornography - along with the disapperance of the old fashioned method of hanging the rapist on the town square at high noon - has caused the sex crime rates of all modern democracies to rise over time.
