UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- A youth league baseball coach convicted of getting one of his players to injure a teammate was sentenced to one to six years in prison today.
Fayette County Judge Ralph Warman said the actions by Mark Downs Jr., of Dunbar, in June 2005 were "outrageous" and "extremely reprehensible" because he was coaching a league of children 7 to 9 years old.
Testimony indicated Mr. Downs promised $25 to one of his best players if he hurled a ball at Harry Bowers Jr., 11, an autistic and mildly retarded teammate, presumably to keep him from playing in a game.
A jury convicted Mr. Downs last month of corruption of minors and conspiracy to commit simple assault.
Judge Warman sentenced him to six months to three years on each count

Please show me some evidence as I've read the Baltimore Sun for years and seen it many times.
Anyway, a hard tball pitch thrown against a handicapped kid doesn't require six years in prison you nut.

Idiot headline writer. Exactly how can a player "bean" another player in "T-ball"?

You said:
I don't see any adult involved that wanted to intentionally hurt a child.
He wanted little kids to throw a baseball at another little kid who no-doubt had a baseball glove on at the time.
From the story
Testimony indicated Mr. Downs promised $25 to one of his best players if he hurled a ball at Harry Bowers Jr., 11, an autistic and mildly retarded teammate, presumably to keep him from playing in a game.
He paid the kid to throw at the other kid, yet there was not intent to injure. Sure thing. What an ass.

Don't get me wrong, the dude is a scum bag. It's one of those stories that sounds unbelievable from the start, then when you hear it's a kid who is typically too old for t-ball, being hit by the ball when the kids are supposed to hit off of a tee ....
And I can't figure out what the motive is to take out this kid in the first place. What harm did the pose?

I don't advocate gay rape but in this case I just don't care what happens to this particular guy.
When in prison crap happens.
Generally, most people who go to prisons are not very nice individuals.
However, the sentence was a bit stiff.
More in line would have been 90 days behind bars and banned from coaching or assisting in any child's sporting event for life.

I thought we were arguing about the ruling all this time.
All you have said is 10, 20 30 years. All I said was penalty too harsh.
Not much of a debate. Still LMAO at your superior "intelluct"(sic).

No. See your post 24.
Never once did I defend the guy. Just think the sentence is too harsh.
Two more lies from MikefromOhio. Nice.
