The keyword BANGLIST has been added to this thread. You will now reach the majority of the FR shooting crowd.

For deep concealment, I keep my
KelTec P3AT in my front pants pocket and nobody is the wiser. 6+1 of 380 at $250. I used to clip it to my boot, but I was afraid it would be incredibly inconvenient to draw it if I needed it.

I carry that one too in a little nylon pocket holster to keep it from getting dirty. It works in shorts or any pants you want.
Rumor is that KelTec is coming out with a single stack 9mm that's almost the same size.

Actually KelTec has announced the 9 on their website, they just haven't given a ship date. It's been up there for quite a while.

Re: Para one of your post.
I own and operate a small, rural grocery store. I carry my Beretta 92FS Compact either stuffed down the front of my pants behind my apron or behind me in a Galco MOB. Everybody knows I'm carrying and it's actually a "preventive" measure. I haven't been bothered in the 5 years I've been here because all the malcontents (and potential malcontents) KNOW not to mess with me. You might want to rethink your strategy of not letting them know you're armed.

Are you talking about the PF-9? Those dimensions, while small, are a bit bigger than the P3AT. It's even got a rail, a small one like the 3"XD.

Yeah, the PF-9. It is a little bigger, but not much. I'm anxious to see one.

An ankle holster is ok if you have time to reach the weapon. Unfortunately in your circumstance it doesn't sound like you would have that option.
There is such a thing as pocket carry which sounds like what you need.
Here is a site for just such a holster:
http://www.pocketholsters.com/
Since your attire is so informal, you might also consider buying some shirts designed to wear outside your pants. Bulky enough, then you could go for an Inside Waistband holster or a OWB pancake style.

Man I hate having the barrel pinted at the boys!
Chasaway, Im in TX too and understand your concerns. Its hard to hide went its 105!
when I cant conceal a 40 in summer I carry this
Polish P-64 in 9x18 makarov in the small of my back
Its thin and small and conceals well with shorts and a Tshirt, but is only 6 +1 and has an atrocious double action trigger. The Good news is the single action trigger is OUTSTANDING!

I don't wear one, but I wouldn't mind, though. 5.11 series tactical vest.

I use a very thin clip on Uncke Mikes "Sidekick" holster

A Minor addition of sewing a loop inside the pocket will allow the holster to clip securely deep in a pants pocket

Have you considered the hawaiian shirt?

"An ankle holster is ok if you have time to reach the weapon. Unfortunately in your circumstance it doesn't sound like you would have that option. " Ever thought of an open carry fixed blade knife on the waistband? I've go a KaBar TDI, it holsters and draws like a firearm.
