I grew partial to the Glocks, simply because I liked the consistent trigger pull and its "point and click" interface. I had the chance to shoot a few pistols before buying, and do not regret a Glock.

I will echo the try-before-you-buy sentiment - I tried a compact Glock and didn't like my pinkie hanging off the bottom of the grip, but the mid/full size Glocks were just fine. For me.

The grip angle of the Glocks, like S&W autos, screws with my aiming point...grew up on Browning designs like the 1911 and Browning HP and I remain most comfortable with those and others like them.
