There has, however, been some controversy over the casting. Some black campaign groups say it amounts to a "whitewash" - because Mrs Pearl is mixed race. One website, blacklooks.org, claims: "It is 2006 and I had assumed that the days when white actors took on roles of black people had long passed away."
These people need to stop their damned whining.
I am afraid that Pitt and Jolie are going to "whitewash" the Pearl murder which was done by jihadists because Pearl was Jewish.
I can think of no single issue of greater importance than what color one's skin is. I thank blacklooks.org for bringing this to the forefront. A much higher calling than what blacklooks.com and blacklooks.net pursued.

As an earlier poster remarked, it is more likely Brangelina will "whitewash" the murder of Daniel Pearl.
The thing of it is, this is a story about a real person. It is going to be very distracting to watch the movie with Jolie in blackface (beigeface?), and IMO it will take away from the movie, versus hiring someone like Halle Berry who could legitimately be made like Marianne Pearl.
Halle Berry would have worked.

Sounds like a sound economic decision. Why pay someone else $20 million for a role when your wife has more draw than anyone else.
Sure, but if your girlfriend is a biggest box office draw, why spend outside the 'family'? It makes no economic sense when Angelina can fit the role just fine.
I wonder if blacklooks.org would have complained if J-Lo had gotten the role?
