In the short run, yes: China is a huge concern. One of the biggest concerns is whether the current sort-of-communist government will fall apart peacefully or not. If "not", the resultant civil war will have global effects.

I would be interested to know if the high birthrate in Islamic countries dilutes/minimizes the radical strain.

Off hand, I'd say that it doesn't seem to be diluting the radicalism. Quite the contrary. Note, for example, the annual stories of "Ramadan Rioting" ... in western Europe.

I'm not quite sure what to make of that. More there than meets the eye. Perhaps a new strain of radicalism (westernized) or just frustrated kids or adults stirring the pot.
