The inscriptions are Wampanoag Indian.
They state (translated):
"English ships come.
Many Englsih in ships. We no have border walls.
Some of us think we can use Englsih for menial labor, fighting other tribes.
Chief say want to help English here and use them for us.
Chief say too many English to round up and send back across big waters.
We screwed."
