I think the Yankees would agree. Oh, they might not admit it. But there was clearly no fight in them. They looked at Jaret Wright on the mound, saw the loss coming, got scared and folded like a card table.
I don't agree. Jared Wright is a good pitcher. Jeremy Bonderman had a fantastic performance. Did the Tigers give up when they saw Kenny Rogers on the mound, considering he had been a chewtoy for the Yankees in the past? No, and Rogers came out and threw the game of his life. There's a reason they actually play the games. Sometimes the best teams can lose a series, and other teams can overachieve. The Yankees could have easily come back and won the last two games, but Bonderman came out and pitched a second great game for the Tigers. I think Bonderman and Rogers deserve the credit, I don't think they were just lucky to be against a team that gave up.
