No but they just explained how it happens and lent it some credence. So as long as we are in Iraq imposing our will the populace will be justified in engaging in barbaric tactics seeing as how we operate that way.
I think that this season looks good from a fictional story line but I can see the entertainment and art's community's thought process on display here.
I disagree. Islamic suicide bombings are not motivated by survival concerns. The closer BSG analogue to the Islamic suicide bomber are the cylons who kill themselves in order to advance the cylon cause, with no survival motivation whatsoever.
If one is to assert that the suicide bomber in tonight's BSG is meant to be like an Islamic suicide bomber, then it follows that the original invasion of the twelve colonies would be the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan, and the humans would be the analogy for Muslims throughout. As someone who has seen every episode to date, this is wildly inconsistent with what has happened so far and how the two sides have behaved.
So just in case anyone is confused on this matter:
Cylons = Muslims
Humans = the civilized world trying to survive
