I admired his fashion creations in the 70's and 80's.

Well I admire his name. I wish I'd been named "Yves". But his full name "Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent" is just too damned much.

It follows increasing concerns about the multi-millionaire's health after a lifetime of high living involving drink, drugs and numerous glamorous girfriends.

I love his clothes. I googled this info:

YVES SAINT LAURENT

Yves Saint Laurent was born in Oran, Algeria, in 1936. Saint Laurent studied fashion in Paris. In 1953, he won first prize in a competition sponsored by the International Wool Secretariat, which led to a job with Christian Dior. Saint Laurent worked with Dior until Dior's death in 1957. After Dior's death, the 21-year-old Saint Laurent became the head designer for the House of Dior.

His first collection under Dior, the trapeze line, was a worldwide success. Saint Laurent opened his own house in 1961 and presented his first collection under his own name in January 1962.

Yves Saint Laurent is best known as the master of casual chic.

Throughout the 1960s, Saint Laurent created many young and innovative designs for women. He introduced masculine tailoring into women's wardrobes such as pants suits, military and safari-style jackets, as well as tuxedos for women.

His seductive eveningwear often was based on retro and ethnic styles. Saint Laurent was the first living designer to have a retrospective exhibition of his work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1983/1984."
