Good point. Anyway, I can't believe my own naivete since I never considered how MA got the gay marriage amendment in the first place!
It wasn't an amendment. It was a 4-3 decision by the MA Supreme Judicial Court. (Interestingly, the one Lesbian justice voted against, on the grounds that it should properly be treated by legislation, not the court.)
