Their otherwise peaceful, quiet community has been ripped to tatters and shreds over this despicable act.

Yes sir.

As I said on another thread, this was a rape of the entire Amish community along with the cruel killing of all those dear little girls.

I can just imagine how devestated they all must be feeling right now. I've never visited Amish Country, but here in Montana we have Hutterite communities which are identical by design. They are probably the most friendly and resourceful group of people I've had the rare occasion to meet. The Hutterites have some of the best farmer's markets I've ever come across. You can buy everything from fruits, vegetables, and fresh homemade bread and they even produce extravagant furniture and fine wine, and one of the larger ones will be the future home of a wind turbine farm in northern Montana.

In fact, my mother's parents bought a set of wood table chairs that look as though they were made in the turn of the century. Beautiful pieces of work. Some furniture stores I've been by near the commune pay top dollar to the Hutterite's to showcase and resell their furniture in their stores and the Hutterites get a profit in return.

This is just so sad, we all pray for the injured girls and for comfort for the community as a whole. A peaceful farm and a glorious day, and then tragedy!

Did you happen to see the movie, "Witness"?

Kelly McGillis was beautiful in her role in that fine movie.

****

I really have a special place in my heart for the Amish.

No. I'll have to add that to my must see list.

It's a great movie. When you get it, and I hope you do, you will love the scenes of the building of the house (one day the whole community gets together and builds the house).

There is also a great scene involving an ice cream cone.

But all in all, it's a great movie illustrating the lives of these good Amish people. Harrison Ford is fabulous in it too!

When I heard one of the cable talking heads refer to the movie Witness I was a little worried that it was not a good movie. Glad to know that for once I was wrong about the media agenda.

How very sad for these people. WABC reporting that authorities had a hard time convincing the parents to ride in the police vehicles to the hospitals.

I was very close to these people for some substantial time decades ago. I love their hearts.

I could not feel worse for their community today.

****

Prayers for all concerned and especially the sweet little girls in the hospital.

There were many of us lamenting the media frenzy over Bailey and hoping that it didn't spawn a copy cat.

Spoke with my daughter last evening in CO and she was mighty distraught over the public information out on the sexual attacks on the girls at Bailey. She hates the media with a passion.

We can only pray for all those who suffer such tragedies in their communities.

Prayers for the most peaceful of Christians, the Amish. How dare the horrors of the world invade their space.

I had gone done to that part of PA 12 years ago and I really came back truly appreciating the simple life those folks live.

4:30 am (est) She was on life support, her parents were with her when she died.

She was 7 years old.

The same hospital has two other girls under their care. A 6 year old is still in critical condition. A 13 year old has been upgraded to serious.

It's very confusing. All through the night, as I kept watch on the news stories, they never changed from three girls dead in the school, plus the gunman dead = 4 people dead.

Then, at some point before the death in the hospital, they clarified the number to be 2 little girls and a school aide. Then, another report said 3 little girls + the school aide + the shooter. Then they added the little girl's death at the hospital 3 hours ago.

That would seemingly equal 6 deaths, as the coroner had originally stated erroneously.

I believe that the school aide is getting counted twice, as a child and as a staff member. Gut feeling is that it's now 3 little girls who have died, plus the school aide, plus the gunman. That equals 5 deaths, total, from the senseless rampage.

I noticed yesterday afternoon that the governor was holding off on sending condolences, which told me his office didn't want to leave out the possible next 2-3 victims and their families, when the statement is issued.

Since one of the teens has been upgraded at the one hospital, it sounds like this might be a final total - except that there are 4-5 more victims at other hospitals around PA.

Prayers for all involved, and for the innocents in the shooter's family.

It was one of the ugliest days in American history, in my opinion. How do humans do ANYTHING like what that man did????

As I said earlier on this thread, this was a rape of the entire Amish community along with the bizarrely insane and cruel killing of all those dear little girls.
