I just watched the New England v. Cincinnati game this morning. Ouch! I had figured that Cincinnati was going to win something like 41-10 based on the problems NE had stopping various things that Cinci does well, and that NE both still hadn't gotten their Wide Receivers into the game in a real way (though Gabriel had showed a few flashes), and that they hadn't come up with a way of getting Mulroney free past the line of scrimmage aside from a few runs (Dillon reliably got 3-8. Mulroney tends to get either good yardage or two or less).
If they weren't misfiring so badly, they might have topped 50 in the first half. That was one of the most dominant/inept performance I've ever seen. A lot of just missed interceptions, long balls dropped, and other near-misses by Baltimore.
BTW, OSU is still gelling. As strong as they were against Texas, they still misfired a lot. They looked like a College team. By the end of the season - if they don't pick up bad habits over the next few weeks - they should be truly gross.
Me too, but the Indy NYJ game did turn out to be a good game. The performances by the Bills and the Jets really makes you think that NE is a lot better than thought...even before dismantling the Bengals.
As it turns out, not only that, but who they've been playing appear to be a lot better than expected. The Bills Defense looked like it might be pretty good...but it, and other issues made the Pats look very awkward and out of sorts.
LOL!
He was also just plain off earlier. Like the long pass to Gabriel in one of the first vcouple of games where it seemed he seriously underestimated Gabriel's speed. A lot of it seems to be that he just got his wide receivers three weeks ago. Look at who he hit on passes. He wasn't missing on passes to Troy Brown...but was missing pretty much all the rest of his WRs. By mid-season, Gabriel will be a serious threat.
I feel bad for him now. He's one of my favorite players and I was hoping this would be his comeback year. Guess not.
Maybe...but when you get into motive reactions and bioluminescence it can be really cool.
What part are you doing? Krebs? ATP/ADP?
To the extent that it wasn't directly helmet to helmet, it was shoulderpads just to the helmet.
I think Gabriel is going to be a decent pick up for them. He is certainly tough enough to make catches and get an extra yard or two when needed.
Part of the problem with new receivers is that they break off routes or run the wrong routes. They don't get to spots that the old and more familiar guys used to. However, with a good ground game you can cover the passing game until they catch up. Caldwell and Gabriel have played in the NFL before so it's not like they have no clue on what a WR is supposed to do.
Which one? There are multiple especially stupid truck commercials running right now. :)
It's good to see that - at least against the Bengals - the Pats figured out how to get him alone past the line of scrimage. He's not very good (yet) at getting those first 4 yards, but if he gets a hole, he fakes the first guy out of his socks, runs past the second, and stiff-arms the third into the ground.
Krumrie. Cincy had the game firmly in hand up to that point.
Krumrie. Cincy had the game firmly in hand up to that point - regardless of the score.
Exactly, my exam on it is on monday..
