If they do Pujols is going to have to do it single-handedly like last night. Would you rather be 1.5 games back with 4 to play or 1.5 games ahead with 4 to play? Another way to look at it: who is more likely to lose on a given night, an MLB team that is on an unbelievable winning streak that is totally uncharacteristic of their entire year or a team that has struggled uncharacteristically for a much longer time than usual? Any two MLB teams will suffice. More often than not, you go with the odds. The odds say that Houston has little chance to continue its hot streak and that St Louis should be able to right their ship.
