BUSH 41 , DID PEOPLE BOO HIM AT THE SAINTS GAME?

Posted on 09/26/2006 6:14:11 AM PDT by PATRICK HENRY USA

I did not see the game, but I heard that some people booed Bush 41 (the one that raised millions for Katrina victims). What happened at the game?

"...Most of those "poor" watched the game on their new 52" plasmas bought by FEFA...."

Or stolen from the local Best Buy or Circuit City.

I'm guessing the poor people weren't at the game, it was probably the well-off ones that attended.

On Free Republic lately, especially on this subject, I'm afraid so. There are a lot of freepers who just can't help themselves and feel the need to get the dig in no matter what the topic. This was a huge night not only for New Orleans but for the entire region. People came from all over the Gulf Coast for this game. It's to bad they can't enjoy a few hours of entertainment and diversion without the usual cliches and digs being thrown at them.

You're correct.

No boos for W's father. LA is red state country and W's father has done lots to get relief for New Orleans. I'm looking forward to going back for a visit.

A professional sports team like the Saints has a huge economic impact on a city like New Orleans. It provides an awful lot of jobs, not only directly but indirectly as well in support businesses. When a Super Bowl comes to a city like New Orleans it means hundreds of millions of dollars, so yes, a sports team can help a city, bigtime.

There still is considerable disposable income the New Orleans area. I bet most in attendance were from north of the lake and the greater Baton Rouge area.

From the Saints performance last night, I would expect them do well this year. I would be nice to see them get in to the play offs once in the franchise's history.

From 1st hand knowledge, a lot of tickets are bought by the players and "donated" to community organzations. The team front office has a full time person dedicated to "giving" these tickets away. Mostly they are for YMCA and other type organizations but in a city like NO it could be different.

I'm guessing that a lot of Corporate Donations paid for the tickets in order to fill the seats.

"Where did these "poor" people get the money for football season tickets "

Didn't you get the Thank You note? YOU (the taxpayer) helped pay for them through FEMA handouts to the "disenfranchised, forgotten, poor people of the 9th Ward".....

Where did these "poor" people get the money for football season tickets when they have no home, no job and no income?

Methinks some big biz corporations bought up all the season tickets in a sympathy/PR ploy to promote themselves...

Based on what I saw hanging over the 50-yard line railings... the actual seats are donated or given to the lucky local folks through some charity... lottery... or such...

It's not such a bad move... encouragement and entertainment with some great seats.... good PR for those who foot the bill

Justa humble opine/educated guess.....

Look in the mirror.

All the whiners they showed aren't even from New Orleans, Spike Lee lives in NYC, what does he have to do with New Orleans?

I believe that Spike Flea thinks he is some kind of spokesperson for the blacks of New Orleans, many who lost everything. He is just a hack. The whiners do nothing but criticize, the residents of New Orleans who have stuck around know who has helped get them on their feet and that is the Bush family. The Superdome being reopen is critical to the economic revitalization to finish the city's repairs. I think in the long run New Orleans will be a much better city than it was.

I think you're right--when he was announced they cheered him. It was his coin toss that was booed.

I strained real hard to hear if there were boos, there may have been a smattering out there but it certainly wasn't like Hillary at the 9/11 benefit, that's for sure.

Curious that 41's good pal Clinton wasn't there with him, since they appeared together for the Katrina fundraising.
