LAST month, ... Donald Trump used his signature Youre fired line on his own Apprentice co-star, Carolyn Kepcher, ... Mr. Trumps cool blond assistant...
[snip]In fact, career counselors and business professors say, the dismissal of Ms. Kepcher, ...is an object lesson of what can happen when a protégé steps into the spotlight of a mentor.
Eleven years ago, Mr. Trump hired Ms. Kepcher to run the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. For the last five prime-time seasons, she sat with him in the television boardroom, helping him to decide who rolls a suitcase into the elevator and who stays for another week and another chance at joining her as a member of the Trump company.
Following her television success, Ms. Kepcher wrote a book, immodestly titled, Carolyn 101. She made the rounds of the talk-show circuit. People began to refer to her as Carolyn in the manner of Cher. ...
[snip]Ms. Kepcher is hardly the first subordinate to fall after a flirtation with celebrity. ...Feeling jealous of a protégés success is a classic syndrome of a boss whose identity is so fused with his job and position, he cant imagine himself as anything else, said Jeffrey A. " dismissal of Ms. Kepcher, ...is an object lesson of what can happen when a protégé steps into the spotlight of a mentor... ."
The true example of narcissism.
and besides that, shouldn't it be an "abject lesson" rather than an "object lesson?"
no, I think "object lesson" is the accurate phrase.
thank you. I stand corrected.
who is the guy anyway...this Donald?
And why is he important in my life?
1. He is a rich, spoiled, vain, arrogant adult male who is hungry for fame, status, power and more money.
2. He is as important in your life as gnat droppings in pepper.
yup, thought so.
I'll go back to raising a family.
However, his ilk does pay my salary. Sad to say.
it happens in smaller businesses too. i worked 4 jobs to put
myself through college. one was at a mens clothing store. i
sold more leather jackets, etc than anyone else in the store,
including the assistant manager. my hours were cut, then i
quit. i found another job in the mall to replace it, within
a week.
Thing is, she can charge $10,000 for a 3 hour meeting - if you were a contractor or someone else who wanted to do business with Trump - you would gladly pay Carolyn to have her look over your proposals and point out things Trump would focus on.
