The 300SL, in its day, was definitely a high-performance car. Three liters, 240(?) HP, 4-speed, and a swing-axel rear suspension that was one, or two, steps removed from A Volkswagen Beetle. Steering didn't have much to recommend it either.

Gotcha. The "in its day" is key. On a thread with Ferraris and Cobras, I had to double check your meaning.

I didn't know that about the suspension.
