Now, now.
I was once told discreetly by an Australian woman with whom I worked, that 'fanny' has a distinctly different meaning in Australia than it does in the USA...
I had innocently used the expression trying to get a patient to shift her position on the exam table by asking her to "move her fanny up a bit", and the Australian woman standing across from me helping turned beet red and put her fingertips over her mouth...
