"Dog" Chapman Arrested, Faces Extradition
TMZ ^ | 9/14/06 | TMZ

MSNBC's Rita Cosby is reporting that Duane Dog Chapman, star of the A&E reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," and two members of his bounty hunting team (including his son) were arrested by U.S. officials today for extradition to Mexico. Cosby is reporting that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three-year-old case.

In 2003, Chapman traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges. Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term. The Chapmans were jailed in Mexico for a brief time for the incident three years ago. Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.

Dog's wife, Beth Chapman, said 12 armed marshals "came through the door" at 6:00AM this morning. She said they took their daughter's boyfriend down at gunpoint. Dog was sleeping at the time.

TMZ spoke with Nicky Credic from the U.S. Marshals Office. She said, "The arrest warrant was signed by a U.S. magistrate in Hawaii on September 13. The warrant was based on a formal request based on a diplomatic note from the government of Mexico."

We were in Honolulu last month. Our tour guide took us past Dog's office on the way back from Pearl Harbor. Dog is not popular with the Hawaiians.

What a bunch of BS! We're going to give them Dog and a couple members of his family, when Mexico can't be bothered to help us catch some of the freaking scum that THEY protect on their side of the border?????????????? WTF is wrong with this picture?

Dog, just doing the job that Mexico couldn't/wouldn't do.

That's nice. And why aren't we working on getting the murderer of Deputy David March back extradited?!?!?! Mexcian authroties have him in their custody yet haven't sent him here. WTF?

Mexico is not alone in refusing to extradite prisoners who might face the death penalty here.

Yep. We can arrest a citizen and send him to Mexico to face charges but we can't arrest illegal immigrants and send THEM back to Mexico?

Last I heard Mexico has at least one cop-killer who they are refusing to extradite to the U.S. -- I say nobody goes south until the cop-killer comes back here.

You do notice Dog is a scaredy-cat when Beth is pissed about something...

I really like the costumes they wear on their family outings.

If you recall, the reason Chapman is in trouble in mexico was because mexico "couldn't find" an american millionaire rapist living there but Chapman found him right away.

Hawaiians are a VERY racist group of citizens. If you are not of Hawaiian ancestry AND LIVE THERE, they treat you like dirt. The only non-Hawaiians they treat well are TOURISTS with money to spend.

Like it or not, THAT IS THE TRUTH!

Ask military who were stationed there and you will hear these feelings echoed.

True. I used to work with an Air Force brat who lived in Hawaii when his Dad was stationed there. He told me exactly the same thing circa 1986.
