Where is the best beer in America?
According to Men's Journal magazine, it's in Paso Robles, Calif.
The magazine ranked Firestone Walker Pale Ale as the best beer in America, followed by Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, which is produced in Milton, Del.
Rounding out the top five are Stoudt's Pils, of Adamstown, Pa.; Russian River Temptation Ale, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and Avery Mephistopheles' Stout, of Boulder, Colo.
It has chosen what the editors call the top 25 craft brews that this country has to offer.
The company said its editors put their "sensitive palettes to the test" and have determined the most flavorful microbrews, also judging on the basis of it being refreshing while appealing to a variety of different tastes.
Men's Journal's third annual survey of the Best Beers in America is featured in its October issue.
well, it wouldn't surprise me, a "city" that makes the best and worst stuff around ;)
I never married one, but I dated a few. You fill 'em up with beer and take 'em home. =]
You're right, I should! Where would I get some?
Then moved to North Dakota and drank Hamms...after which I moved to Busch country and then the story gets a little vague and fuzzy....
Frankly, I just can't remember......:-)
I appear to have a lot of Coors in the refrigerator, so I guess I am drinking that now....Anyone who knows what happened to me in between....can FReep mail me so I can write my biography.
:-0
its brewed in southwest MI, same brewery as the #10 on the list. if you have a local specialty beer store they might be able to get it, but its not regularly distributed in NC.
also, its a summer wheat beer, only brewed april- october.
"Wisconsin is IMHO is the beer capital of the world'
IMHO, Wisconsin is the friendlest state in the Union. Indiana runs a close 2nd, but their beer isn't much to write home about.
"Merely speaking the truth."
I drink both sides of the argument, and write about them too.
If craft brewers realized how many BudCoorsMillers drinkers are turned off by their more fanatical customers and their pronouncements that industrial beer drinkers are stupid -- drink piss water/crap, etc., they might step in to smooth the aggresive nonsense from too many of their adoring beer geek fans.
80% of the beer drinking market hits the "American-style" pilsners. About 13% enjoys imports. Where's that leave the craft brewers?
If you want to see craft brewers make a bigger gain, a bigger following, belittling the guy who enjoys Coors Light will NOT sway him over to your point of view.
Coors and their Blue Moon line is growing and growing. People still think Leinenkugel is a little brewery in upper Wisconsin, though it's a SABMiller line. The traditional beer drinker will try something different if nutured, but not if he's confronted with some geek flamer screaming that he's an idiot for drinking BudCoorsMillers.
Years ago, craft brewers and their following used to boast that they weren't stuck-up like wine drinkers. Today, their followers can be worse than the biggest metro wine snob in the world.
There's any old saying about drawing more flies with honey...
"You fill 'em up with beer and take 'em home. =]"
And they usually go flat and taste stale after just a few hours!
It's IRISH!
"I think they still brew the original Leini in Chippewa Falls"
It's all brewed in the 10th Street plant in Milwaukee, as far as I know.
The Chippewa Falls operation is for the tourists.
One is tempted to formulate some sort of comment about "great head" and growlers, but we shall permit better sense to prevail.

After all, "It's all about the beer." :)
Hops are like oysters. An aquired taste. But once you learn to appreciate them, are like gold.
But any list that has Alaska Amber in its top beers is a list compiled by amateurs, IMO.
kwel
Some of those brews are so thick you don't need a glass, you almost need a spoon.
I sure liked it, though.
I'm still pissed that they quit making Amber Light (my favorite beer ever).
