Been a LONG time since he rocked and rolled.
He took care of the house himself. Went to town on his own.
I think Syd Barrett's acid daze days are blown out of proportion when you see people like Brian Wilson, Roky Erickson, and Sky Saxon (all of whom are still performing). Roky went through shock treatment and chemical treatments for "insanity" that did more damage than good. Brian Wilson was fed cocaine and cheeseburgers in exchange for songs in the 1970s or 80s and may have also been done a lot more harm by his counselor.

I'm not so sure about the *may* part. Fortunately, he's been under the care of real doctors for about ten or fifteen years and has regained some semblance of a normal life.
