By the way......... I bought some of those old shuttlecocks at a flea market years ago................... real feathers....The bad thing was that those feathers broke on a regular basis. And the birds were expensive, which is why the company that made them also sold a "repair kit," which was a bag of turkey feathers and a bottle of rubber cement.
It took some real skill to align the feathers properly so the bird would fly true.
