Trust me....... it is effective. I just wonder if it's against the rules now.

I'm with you and I agree as to the effectiveness. I'd just like to see it one time against a real pro.

We used to play against a girl that would hit what we called the "puff serve". It would just barely clear the net and was impossible to return. You couldn't tell from her motion when she was gonna use it so it drove us crazy. If you hunched up she'd hit one hard (for her) and it was just hard enough to give you trouble.

Come to think of it, I down know if I ever won a match.

I gotta get back outside to work... but let me tell you this quick old story. I used to play my quite rich and stylish buddy at his hoity-toity Country Club back in the 60's ........ there were really fine and well attended red clay courts.... blah, blah, blah.

He was a good guy, we were highschool swimming teammates, and we used to be relatively similar in tennis ability. Every once in a while I'd drop one of those little under-handed serves over the net (usually when he was showing some wear and tear), and it used to send him into a rage.

LOL.

It got to be that he'd never invite me out to the club unless I promised not to use that serve again.

;-)
