TUCSON Former Miss Sierra Vista Diane Tucker has been crowned the new Mrs. America.
The 29-year-old took the national title at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, Tucson, where the pageant was held, on Wednesday. Im on Cloud Nine. This is an unbelievable feeling, she said, after winning.
Tucker, who was Miss Sierra Vista in 1996, entered the contest after winning the Mrs. Arizona title.
Married for five years to Thomas, a firefighter, Tucker is an account executive with the Argent Mortgage Co.
She left Sierra Vista in 1995 to attend the University of Arizona. Her parents, Victor and Lorraine Denigris, still live in Sierra Vista.
As well as winning the coveted crown, she also took home cash and prizes totaling more than $100,000. She will now represent America in the Mrs. World pageant.
Second place went to Mrs. Colorado Marney Duckworth and coming in third was Mrs. Utah Drennan Baker.
