My 9/11 story: It was my freshman year of college. I was walking out of psych 101 and my roommate said that someone had called her friend on her cell phone and said something about a plane hitting the World Trade Center. To this day I don't know why I asked this but I said "Was it an accident?" I really didn't have any basis for asking it. I had never paid attention to the news. I didn't remember the WTC bombing or anything like that. I ended up watching CNN the rest of the day because sadly, I was not yet aware of Fox news. I had never been political before that. My first full day interning at the Pentagon will be this Monday, the five year anniversary of 9/11.

Wow, what an exciting & poignant day to begin work at the Pentagon! We are all proud of you & know you will have a wonderful time & brighten up the place!

Your story is interesting.. and your question in it's simple naiveness is typical of many Americans.. we could NOT think that any people would do this, so surely it must be an accident.. until the second plane hit..
