If you have time to go to the upper Peninsula of Michigan, it is beautiful. I have done rock hounding there & did a lot of exploring in mines scrap piles.

Lake Superior shore are out of this world. Large pieces - and I mean LARGE - of granite, quartz are on the beaches.
