My 911 experience was on the highway. I left at 9AM & when I turned on the radio & got Peter Jennings rather than Glenn Beck, well, I knew SOMETHING was up.
I was transfixed the entire way... fastest trip to NC I had ever made(seemingly)as I was immersed in the dialog, the fear, the sadness and the prospect of "what now"..
When I got to my son's house I ran to the TV, which GD was watching cartoon movies.. commandeered the TV & just sat in shock to see all the horrific scenes.
I guess my overall sadness was a bit tempered by the fact that we lost less than 3000 people. A VERY large number to be sure, but there were over 50,000 people in the WTC.. how much worse it could have been.
God bless those who died that day & the family & friends who remain.
