Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yep... no major damage. Lots of limbs down, but our trees stayed up. Our TV in the bedroom got fried by the surge.

Don't remind us. Another storm coming through.
Someone in about the Tacoma area has a storm magnet, I think.
*sigh*

Life without internet stinks. Even if it's just for short periods. 'zactly. I'm not sure what was goin' on, but I can get back to Comcast now and get my email here.
When a co-worker was not having the same problem I got suspicious. So I told the help desk and let them know I needed access to monitor the family emergency stuff. Came back up a minute later.
May be nothin'...but it makes one go hmmmmmm...

I'm in denial about that. I want to enjoy the current peace and quiet a bit first. That's 'zackly what I said when someone reminded me that all 140 members of our General Assembly are up for reelection next year...

Try not to park under trees. :)
Back home after that ice storm that shut the power off for ten days, people started parking their cars at the cemetary whenever there was a threat of sleet or freezing rain: "Hurry up! You don't want to lose your spot at the cemetary!"

Ruh-roh...just discovered the cafe downstairs makes really good pumpkin spice lattes...

I stopped at Starbucks on the way to rehearsal Sunday. They said "we're out of pumpkin spice latte and may be for the season."
AAACK!
Fortunately the one next to thegym still has them.

Life without internet stinks. Even if it's just for short periods. That's why I always have dialup for a backup. If that doesn't work, I'll at least check my email via my cellphone.

Heh...I confess to checking my e-mail by cell phone last night.
I didn't want the fancy phone. But since I now have it, I might as well use it.
It doesn't work well for FR, though. Yes, I tried. How sad is that?

For the season? They didn't plan very well, did they? Maroons...
Think the place downstairs just uses a syrup of some kind. Wonder if it's easily available to regular folk.
On the other hand, I'm not sure I want to know the answer to that.

I think the pumpkin spice at Starbucks is mostly through Thanksgiving. They have the eggnog latte (which I haven't tried) for Christmas. This year they had a maple spice, but I haven't tried that either. Just the thought of that made my teeth hurt...

Hey - if we'd had a fancy phone, we would have!
To: Corin Stormhands
Heh...I actually tried the maple spice. It isn't bad, though of course I've got a little bit of snobbery going on where maple flavoring is concerned.
Mmm...eggnog latte. With real eggnog...

I should have offered. ;-) Didn't think about it until halfway through the evening.
You know...you'd think I'd have gotten some writing in, but instead, I got sucked into reading my first and worst NaNo story, which I came across on my computer whilst doing some tidying up.
It was a train wreck. Couldn't look away.

I've often commented on the weird stuff now available to plug into a USB port. It looks like they haven't overlooked the PCM slot, either.

Just remember not to let them steal the whole laptop.

Jr. could have used that the other day.
Sunday afternoon he had $50 taken from his wallet in the church gym.
My words to him:
1) Not everyone who comes through these doors loves Jesus.
2) Never, ever leave your wallet laying around (he set it aside with his cell phone).
