Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'd appreciate it. A couple of people were counting on me for it, and I have disspointed them and myself with a bonehead error.

Isn't it great! I paid $2.26 the other day (with the Walmart 3 cent off deal).
How ya doing?
Yesterday was hard...but good. Sunday night we watched Flight 93. I felt it was a really good portrayal of the story. It didn't have anything terribly graphic, though you got the idea people were killed or hurt. We allowed the boys to watch it.
I sat on the floor and shook through the entire movie...when it was over Joshua turned to me and said "Wow." in a really soft voice.
We also watched a small bit of the firefighter documentary...then yesterday we focused on the heroes and how ordinary Americans can be extraordinarily courageous.
Every year before this year, the boys just kinda tagged along with me...this year I really got the feeling they "got" it. They put their own enthusiasm into it.
They decorated the tin I put the firefighters cookies in with red white and blue paper and Joshua said "If I live to be 100, this is the best project I've every done."
:-)

I ended up just not watching. I saw a replay of the President's speech and posted the text on my blog. I also did a tribute on my blog to one of the WTC victims.

Good morning...
We watched the Path to 9-11... It was intense, and aggravating to watch how close we were to the right clues but didn't put it together. Of course, the movie has the benefit of hindsight, and also the benefit of focus. But nevertheless, it was frustrating, and left me with a headache by the time it was over. But it's worth watching.

I should watch it. I know. I have "United 93" on my Netflix queue.
I just have to be in the right frame of mind to watch some stuff.
For example, I ~still~ haven't seen "Schindler's List."

I've never seen The Passion and have no inkling of an urge to.
It's not great fun, and fun is usually what we're looking for in a movie.

That I saw, and I did it because I felt I "needed" to. It was a religious, not an entertainment experience.
I don't think I could watch it again. But I'm glad (well, not "happy glad" but you know what I mean) I saw it once.
I went alone. Mrs. couldn't bring herself to see it.

I felt like the "Flight 93" version was especially good for family viewing. When they pushed that cart into the cockpit, it was so sad, but you just felt so proud of them.
Steve was watching the news in his office with his co-workers that day when the second plane hit...he yelled "There's another one!" then it hit. I got up shortly afterward and saw what was going on and called him and he was a wreck.
He saw that happen in the movie and it just tore him all up.

There was some speculation that morning that Richmond might be a target. Then they started the rumor that they were moving the President here.
It was a wild day.

Indeed.
I saw a special on PBS last night that said the memorial and the Freedom tower would be complete by 2011...Steve and I hope to take the boys to see it.

There was a guy riding his bike along the shoulder of the interstate on my way to work today.
How stupid can you get?
To: RosieCotton
If it was the Interstate, that's not only stupid, but illegal.
