The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, I got some shoveling and hole-filling done. What of it I feel like doing anyway. With the rain we've gotten it's now pretty muddy.

I've pretty much decided that Trixie was not australian.

She's Viet Cong. It must be an intricate system of interconnected tunnels. That's the only thing that explains it. :-)

Did some cleaning. Might try summore later. Might not.

Holey moley... it just started hailing like mad outside. Size of peas.

Baaad dooog.

It's clear as a bell here, but very windy and just cooooold. Looks nice, but doesn't feel as nice when you get outside.

Well...we used to sometimes try to dig to Australia when I was little. Maybe she was trying for that...

Cisco's been digging more than usual. I suppose I should try to figure out some toys...keep him occupied a little better.

That wind is something, isn't it? It's almost icy!

I got a few new CDs this morning...I'm just gonna stay put and listen to music and read. Too cold to do much out there.

It's been the usual crazy weather here... blind sunny, raining buckets, sunny again... drizzle.

There's some kind of problem with the back fence. It's tied up with one of the ropes I had in the garage...(?) it must have gotten knocked down at some point. Looks like there's a section that was once a gate, but was nailed shut years ago... and the wood's just given out. Hard to find any good wood to run screws into.

Agreed. But if you feel like letting Cisco run today, Mae will be here a few more hours :~)

It looked like it was only standing up from habit in a few places.

He'd probably like that. Though he did actually ask to come in a bit ago - guess the wind was a bit much.

I don't think I'd want to stand and supervise, though...and I suppose I don't need to, but...

Oh, that's for sure. If it weren't for the moss and lichen I think it would just collapse.

That's funny, that it was the only thing that they warned me about when I moved in, during the walkthrough. That there was a dispute with a neighbor(s) about the condition of the fence. The essence of it was that I think the owner here didn't feel like forking over the cash for a new fence. It's odd, though, since they've obviously put what they should into the house and what have been probably a couple of remodels.

Oh, well, have screwdriver, will travel. I'll just get a few small boards and secure it.

Heh.

Watching the "House" marathon. Love this show.

I wish I could be more like this character, but I'm just not built that way. But an IT shop could operate just like this show.

There are some users I've known who I'd certaily like to talk to the way he talks to patients.

But I'm not built that way, either. Still...it's funny.

I also like the totally un-PC way he treats Foreman.

Though...come to think of it, he's not exactly PC with anyone.

It was one of the shows they parodied at the beginning of...the Emmies, was it? With Conan O'Brien?

House is an incredibly rude and outspoken but brilliant doctor with a bad leg and a bad attitude. And a drug habit. Among other things. Incredibly sarcastic.

It's a lot funnier than you'd guess from that.

Heh...reading through some of the quotes on IMDB, just 'cause I was curious what had been posted there.

Yah. I think what he is is basically a clinical psychopath. He has no capacity for any sort of empathy. He merely says whatever he sees as true at the moment, with no filter for anything, especially any kind of tact.

I think we'd all like to be able to just blurt out the truth of the moment from time to time. Nomatter the effect.

:-)

Dangit, they change that every time I take the classes.

And, see, if I had to deal with House, I would suddenly become the clumsiest person you ever saw ... I would be falling into, bumping into, kicking, stabbing, and gouging that bad leg of his every chance I had.

There are too many nice people on that show ...

Give him a reason to be a drug addict ...

But like Ramius said, you have to admit it's kind of fascinating watching someone who just says whatever they think, no matter what. It's...cathartic sometimes.

Hullo!
