I updated the Hobbit Hole knife tally as I continue to give away the last of our "inventory". They Camillus 904S has now surpassed our first knife, the CRKT 5700, 421 to 415. And I still have over 100 more in stock. That's one backlog that we will make a big dent in.

I'll shortly be announcing the newest phase of the Hobbit Hole, "gadgets and safety giveaway". For safety purposes, we will continue to give away the Grimloc safety carabiner. It's light, handy, inexpensive in the quantities we give away (699 to date, with 200+ on hand), and most troops have never heard about it. I can send two in a padded envelope with 3 ounces of first class postage.

The other part of the program will be the evaluation of safety and "convenience" devices. The first reviews will be of various upgrades for the kevlar helmet that significantly increase impact protection, and therefore ballistic protection. Some brands are winners, and at least one is a total loser that could get you killed, thinking you were protected.

I'm also anxiously awaiting my next "gadget", a SureFire light system that clamps to the side of the helmet. It provides the choice of two high-intensity white LEDs, two subdued blue LEDs for use with NVGs, and an infrared strobe for IFF purposes.

I might also have some business cards with our logo on it to help troops remember where the weird gear came from.

Sam has been known to bark to go out. Stand on the deck, turn around and come back in to ask for a treat.

He finally figgered out that don't work.

Thanks for all you do, Winmag... We sent our token contribution to you yesterday, I think, and will continue to send you all we can. :~)

We know you'll take care of the troops, the key with you is getting you to take care of yourself :~)

OK, so *maybe* writing in the first person about committing murder isn't the greatest preparation for church...

She's right. When God decides He's going to take out one of Rosie's tires, He doesn't mess around :~)

Here's where we found our damsel in distress:

The tire's got five splits in the sidewall, one of which was on the inside.

My honey getting the spare out from under the car...

And taking the old tire off...

Daid...

Putting the little toy tire on it...

And she drove it across the parking lot to Discount Tire, which was unfortunately not open. Put we left it there, We'll take her in tomorrow when they open and have Rosie decide on some ~new~ tires.

mmmm...new tire smell...

In other news, Rosie if you ain't mailed the cookies, you don't need to. All three episodes are on ABC.com.

It's a bit of a pain because the feed sticks about every 10 minutes or so (part of ~I think~ the reason this computer needs ~cleansing~). But they're there.

Just got through episode one.

Did it get slashed? That can't be just accidental damage. Where was the van?

Poor Van-sama.

Um, does that little composition notebook you're holding in the first pic happen to be the one with the murder scene?

There were little wirey looking things at each of those tears - inside the tire. And one of the splits was on the inside wall, so it couldn't have been slashed. It does look pretty bad, though, doesn't it?

I guess it just hit the distance it was rated for and 'sploded.

I was supposed to go to a concert tonight about an hour or more away. Ain't happening, obviously.

Heh...

Most of it's on the computer. But I did write a bit more of the murder while I was waiting for help. The tire was already dead at that point, though...
