You know, it's just kinda sad that you forgot about him in that way...
To: Corin Stormhands
Not really forgotten... it's mostly because I get to say it to him in ~person~ so often...

I'm off to the People's Republic of Charlottesville.
See y'all tonite-ish.
Getting bored while applying for jobs can be hazardous...
"What characteristics set you apart from other candidates for this position? "
Answer:
The simplest characteristic which would uniquely identify me from other candidates for this position would be a combination of social security number and employee identification number.
Biometrics would be the logical first choice. The main issue in this case would be that little or no biometric information on the candidates would be readily available from a reliable source.
The use photographs would be a likely second choice. Unfortunately they are a highly subjective means of identification and not usually screened for uniqueness. While photographs of all (internal) candidates would be easily available there is not available means of verifying authenticity or certifying uniqueness. Social security numbers and employee numbers on the other hand would or should have been already screened for uniqueness. Using both numbers together taps into two independent means of uniquely identifying me from all other candidates, one from the federal government and the other internal to the company. The available methods for spoofing such system would require preplanning to be done to far in advance. No one could know what number to spoof years in advance of a position because they could not have advanced knowledge of who the other candidates would be.
Naturally the most reliable method would be a genetic test but logistically that is the most complicated method to employ.

Better enough for work. It was a pretty good day other than being told first thing in the morning that the macro I'd written last week had a bug and wouldn't run. Ooops.

Any sign of the chimney liner?
I had a "No to Welfare Soccer" notice at my door this afternoon.

No, but interestingly enough, it's only dropped to 65 degrees in the house. OB has a night meeting and I'm going to iron and watch TV, so that should put lots of heat in the living room.
Jackson County has already scammed its voters, and the talk hosts at 980 are trying to warn the Johnson Country voters that the same thing is going to happen to them, but I'm afraid the advocates have a lock with their 'for the childreeeeen" ploy.

Well isn't that the only nesting ground of the Spotted Ground Owl in the country?

Well isn't that the only nesting ground of the Spotted Ground Owl in the country? I think you're right. If not, possibly we could plant some spoor :-)

We're pondering the many, many opportunities out there. Here, *there*, and a few places in between.

I have to tell you how much I'm enjoying the Stephanie Plum books! I'm so glad!! We have a bit of an Evanovich clique at work. We've taken sides: babes v. cupcakes. Such good fun!
Just for the record: It's snowing here at my hotel. Wheeee!

If it's Colorado, I gotta come visit sometimes, ya know. ;-)
It's funny...with NaNo coming up, I've been rather homesick for *some* aspects of Fort Collins. The job thing was a bit of a deal breaker, but there were nice things, too. I'll miss a lot of the NaNo crew. And the coffee houses. And Paninos and all.

As per Lyle Lovett:
That's right, you're not from Texas.
That's right, you're not from Texas!
That's right, you're not from Texas,
But Texas wants you anyway!
Do y'all aim to go play at NASA?
