The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

In other news...today is my last day of being in my 20s.

*sigh*

And tomorrow's the first day of your thirties.

And the rest of your life.

How do you plan to start the rest of your life?

Naaaahhhh....it gets better.

I'm at the point where I can get away with being crotchety and cantankerous. Dagnabbit!

What about a nekkid man dropping out of the sky?

Note: I did not get in trouble today at work.

Well, that's no fun.

It was such ... a change of pace, that yes, it was fun.

I'm back on the aeroplane tomorrow. Going to take my notebook for more nano-prep.

That's a very good way to start your thirties! Or your forties, even!

<laughing!>I will have to write that scene one day!

Well...I guess at least I'll be in my very early thirties instead of my very late twenties.

And maybe that's better.

Until you hit 32, which I just did, and decide that there's no point in holding on any longer. *frown* I'm still adjusting to this whole "thirties" thing.

I always hated the 9's (29,39,49) 'cause I "felt" like people were thinking "29, yeah right, she's really 30" so I looked upon the next year as quite liberating. The jury's still out as to how I will feel when/if I make it to 60 in less than 2 years.

My problem isn't with getting older, per se, it's just having to grow up that's bothersome! LOL.

My Dad turns sixty this year.

I think for him, it means "only five more years until I don't have to work unless I want to!"

I remember the 80s, at least. Some of it.

Ditto.

You know you're "from"* the 80's if:

--You owned a *real* Rubik's cube.
--One word: Izod.
--You remember when MTV didn't exist. Alternatively you remember when the M stood for Music, not Mundane.
--"Alternative" music actually was...and not popular Top 40 tunes.
--You were a "wanna be". Madonna, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Boy George, etc.
--"Where's the beef?"
--You know how to use a rotary phone.
--Max Headroom was cool.
--You know how (or wanted to be able) to Moonwalk!
--Atari, IntelliVision, TelStar and Coleco were the ultimate gaming systems to own.
--Leg warmers and headbands á la Pat Benatar once looked really cool to you.
--You remember when Jordache jeans with a flat-handle comb in the back pocket was cool.
--Jelly bracelets & shoes!
--Your hair defied gravity.
--You are still baffled by the "day glo" clothing trend.

*The original list said "child of" the 80's. I personally was a "late teen/young adult" during that time.
