People with self-respect have limits as to how much disrespect they are willing to absorb from another person before they end the relationship.

I'm a Catholic, and Catholics are allowed to separate from a spouse who has refused, over a long period of time, to desist from moral turpitude.

We are not allowed to remarry.

If the chief is a Catholic, and he has children and his wife has refused over a long period of time to desist from this behavior, he has an obligation to leave with the children for their sake.
