"State law allows three attacks before a dog is euthanized. Saturday's incident was the first. The couple who own the dog are split over whether to destroy the animal, said Robert Bijold."

Seems a gunshot or 6 after the girl was pried from it's jaws would prevent a future attack.

Three attacks? What idiocy. Someone should have cut its throat right there.

Pit bulls should be sterilized in my opinion. I had a run in with one, one time.

Pit Bulls should be handled with a loaded .45 to their heads.

Bijold said the dog did not bite anyone else. But to the family's horror, it kept trying to get at Jessie, ignoring the other people. He had no idea what provoked the dog...Well, "something" provoked the dog that's for sure. Perhaps little Jessie threw a rock at it, pulled its tail or ears? (I don't believe for an instance it was because she tried to pet this Bully.)

Rule 1: Never trust ANY dog. All dogs at some point go "off" on someone for no discernable reason.
Rule 2: Pit bulls DO MORE DAMAGE when they go "off" on someone.
Rule 3: Don't let your kids play with pit bulls. Period.

The little girl triggered it's prey instinct, maybe with a high pitched squeal or something. Doesn't really matter does it, now? The dog is now an activated predator that sees small children as prey. It can never be trusted with humans again, PUT IT DOWN!

The Pit Bull has inherited the genes of the now extinct White Terrier from England. The White Terrier was so aggressive in 1800's England, it was deemed a social menace by proclamation and was made extinct. The modern Pit Bull still has that genetic tendency lurking below the surface. So, with cool and unsympathetic instincts, they regard us with envious eyes, and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.

Easy decision. Dog Bites...dog dies.
Any other decision by the owner is irresponsible and they should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

i am just letting you know that i am sick with ignorant people who hate certain breeds of dogs for what their OWNERS do. Its the owners fault, not the dogs. I know so many pits and other “bully” breeds who are the sweetest dogs ever! only owners who force the dog to attack or fight should be arrested. anyone who owns a pit bull should feel the same way. All im asking is to think about what you say before you say it, this effects so many pit owners who love thier dogs dearly, and would hate for them to be taken from them, or even euthanized. Just remember, Blame the deed NOT the Breed!
To: Wristpin
All of you ignorant ppl that talk about pits being aggressive dogs toward humans need to do a little more research before putting your 10 cents into anything. Pits ranked in the 82nd percentile based on temperament (most other breeds were in the 77th). Pits are the most loving dogs i have ever owned and all of them have been great dogs and LOVE kids. I have 2 very young kids and they are nothing but great with them. People are afraid of pits because ppl are ignorant...like most of you that have posted replies.
