Every person who snores should be checked for sleep apnea.

I have snored for over the better part of 30 years, and when I finally got checked for sleep apnea, found that I have it and was encouraged to start using a CPAP machine.

What a difference! I sleep 6 to 7 hours a night and am completely reFReshed when I wake up and generally do not get sleepy during the day like I used to. I am, literally, a new man because I use a CPAP machine and get a good solid night's sleep.

One more point: I have a heart condition which, according to my doctor was a direct result of "living" with untreated snoring and sleep apnea.

Bottom line? If you snore, get tested for sleep apnea. And if you have sleep apnea, get treatment! Sleep apnea, if untreated, can be fatal.

My husband has been tested for everything. He is simply a snorer. I can hear him even with earplugs in and a pillow over my head. Drinking alcohol in the evenings can exacerbate it but I can't get him to stop having his nightcap every night.

On rare occasions, I snore. It always wakes me up immediately. I cannot understand how people can snore and not wake up.
