That's a scary looking guy. Shooting him might not have been an option for the officer.
This guy? Come on ... be real! lol

In the old days, if you'd shot Alex Karras, you'd just have made him mad. "Mongo only pawn in game of life."

If a car tried to run me down and I saw that. I would shoot also. I would wish for at least a 45 or a 44 mag.

then fired a warning shot into the bushes That's probably against the law and not what the police are trained to do. This guy sounds like a bad cop and shouldn't be on the force.

If you haven't already done so, reply #5 gives more details. The officer didn't shoot a large, uncooperative and aggressive drunk for the fun of it.

Hate to say it, but the off duty officer wasnt following procedure on this one. You cant use unmarked cars in traffic enforcement in CA....and even a drunk motorist doesnt have to pull over for someone showing just a badge.
blue and red lights, it is in the vehicle code.

Foley has had previous run-ins with law enforcement. Last week, the San Diego County District Attorney's office said it would not pursue charges against Foley for an incident in April. He was accused of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and being drunk in public after an altercation on a University City street about 1:30 a.m. April 21.He got away with it the first time. He thought he could get away with it again.
If I were the prosecutor, he'd be facing felony charges arising out of both incidents as soon as he was up and on his feet again. His companion driving the car would be facing attempted murder charges. It's sometmes easy to sow reasonable doubt if one incident is charged. But if two similar incidents are charged involving different police officers on different dates, reasonable doubt starts to dry up and blow away.

SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLT!!!! A reference to San Diego sports talk show host (and former Chargers announcer) Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton, as the So. Cal. clones will know.
