Yes, I can see the sense of that. We did send a horse to the slaughterhouse once, because he was very ill and it's difficult to get rid of a horse body once they are dead. I was a kid and didn't have any say about it, but I have always been haunted by what his last hours and moments must have been like.
It's ok for conservatives to have emotions, and soft hearts. And it's also ok for people to disagree (something that seems to be beyond the understanding of some of FR). It doesn't make us bedwetters, animal rights facists, etc.

I'll venture a guess. It was probably standing there with a blank expression on its face, maybe chewing on a piece of grass and swatting flies with its tail.
