While I think Simcha Jacobovici's analysis of the Exodus plagues, parting of the sea, and mountain are all interesting, if not persuasive, I think his analysis of the gold Mycenaean artifact as a depiction of the Ark is simply wrong. If you watch the documentary, take a close look at the original gold artifact before the camera pulls away and it is replaced by the computer generated copy. You'll notice three distinctly Minoan/Mycenaean columns (rounded crown with tapered column) of the sort found in Mycenaean buildings. What he's showing looks pretty clearly to be to be the depiction of a typical Minoan or Mycenaean building, possibly a temple, with characteristic horns found at Knossos and elsewhere on the roof. The birds don't strike me a cheribim, either. I also think his interpretation of the fleet frescoe from Akrotiri is a stretch and the grave stones at Mycenae could simply be depicting the Theran tsunami from the Greek side and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the Exodus. Frankly, I don't understand why he feels so compelled to tie the Exodus to the Minoans and Mycenaeans who were clearly pagans and no monotheists. Of course my disagreement over his interpretation of the Minoan and Mycenaean evidence in no way detracts from the rest of the presentation.

I agree wholeheartedly - especially with the birds on top of the Ark of the Covenant. The Bible is very specific that is is cherubs (cherubim), which would manifestly NOT be in the form of an animal (despite the wings). This artifact depicts something else.
