4 8 15 16 23 42 - Official Lost Season 3 Thread

WARNING - Spoilers and Speculation Allowed

Lost is returning to ABC’s Wednesday night line on October 4th (9pm)

Again, they’re messing with us with their idiotic (IMHO) scheduling. But instead of a 1 week on, 1 week off, we’ll get 6 episodes, followed by a 12 week break. It will then come back in February for 17 straight episodes.

Returning Characters:

Losties
Sayid Jarrah
Claire Littleton (and Aaron, the "baaabby")
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes
Dr. Jack Shephard
James "Sawyer" Ford
Jin Kwon
Sun Kwon
Kate Austen
Charlie Pace
John Locke
Walt Lloyd
Mr. Eko
Michael Dawson
Rose
Bernard

The Others
Henry Gale/The Other formerly known as Henry Gale
Ethan Rom
Tom/Mr. Friendly/Zeke
Pickett
Alex Rousseau
Bea Klugh
He/Him

Newbies - Actors joining the show (Character names to be added when known):
Rodrigo Santoro - recurring character (double swoon). Allegedly, he plays a survivor from the plane who has been on the island this whole time
Elizabeth Mitchell - contracted to be a regular
Kiele Sanchez - recurring character. Rodrigo's love interest

I know I’m missing some characters, especially the Losties, but that’s probably because they aren’t very memorable.

- Look for Desmond (swoon) to become a regular this season and for Ethan to make a few appearances (obviously more Island flashbacks, since Charlie filled him full of bullet holes)

- And of course Danielle Rousseau will be back.

- Michael has been downgraded to recurring character, instead of regular character.

Season 2 finale

When we last left our Losties, Kate, Hurley, Jack, and Sawyer were taken hostage by the Others, after they were betrayed by Michael. In return for helping the Others, Michael and Walt are given a boat to supposedly get off the island. Yeah, okay, good luck with that. Be seeing you again real soon.

Oh, and the hatch exploded. No more showers for our Losties. Guess, I'll just have to picture Sawyer lathering up...oh excuse me, back to the matter at hand. So, did Locke, Desmond, and Eko survive the explosion? Well, if you’ve read this far, you can probably answer that one on your own.

And Penny (Desmond’s long lost love) is seen answering a phone. On the other end of the line are 2 men in a very cold location (the opposite of our very sweaty island). 1 says “I think we’ve found it.” Hmmm. Very interesting. Or not. Tune it to find out.

Season 3 - questions to be answered

1. Kate will finally decide between Jack and Sawyer (my money is on Jack, but Sawyer would be so much better)

2. The Hatch is gone. Forever. Get over it. Oh, but wait. There might be an underwater one. Cue the Splash theme song.

3. We will find out why Locke was in the wheelchair. Promises, promises.

4. We will also find out why Libby (R.I.P.) was in the mental hospital. So obviously, she isn’t completely off the show. But, thankfully, Michelle Rodriguez is. Worst. Actress. Ever. Anybody got any scoop on who she is dating in real life? I got $100 that says it is someone of the female persuasion.

5. It has nothing to do with nanobots. Okay, maybe that won’t be answered exactly. But please. Horrible theory.

6. The polar bear returns.

7. The monster will be revealed.

Unanswered questions

1. Are Jack and Claire siblings?

2. Where is Cindy?

3. How does a show go from being the Emmy winning best drama to not even being nominated??? Stupid Emmy’s.

4. Who is Sun’s baby daddy?

Episode 1 08/07 - Jack, Kate and Sawyer open the season in captivity as prisoners of "The Others." Just who these "Others" are and what they want are primary questions Season Three will explore. Michael Emerson joins the regular cast in his ongoing role as Henry Gale, leader of "The Others." Romance looms on the horizon as Jack's interests veer towards a mysterious new woman, whose motives may be questionable. Sun and Jin will continue to celebrate their pregnancy - but is the child really Jin's? Locke and Sayid will band together with some of the other survivors and journey across the island in an attempt to free Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Charlie will attempt to return into the good graces of Claire and her baby, Aaron, but can he be trusted to stay clean and sober? The fates of Locke, Desmond and Mr. Eko in the aftermath of the implosion of the hatch are answered. Will Penny Widmore find the island and her long, lost love, Desmond, and can the survivors find a way to interact with the outside world? The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 60-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets. Source - ABC

Sooo, excited. I hope I can stay awake tonight for the new time.

Stole the tagline from a bumber sticke on an 18-wheeler. We laughed about it for days after we saw it, so I thought I'd borrow it for awhile.

I just went to look at some Lost websites and discovered that Dominic (Charlie) and Evangeline (Kate) are an item and may be engaged. They have been seeing each other for quite a while as it seems.

Instead of doing a general synopsis, I thought I’d just give you these (courtesy of Lostpedia and other sources)

• When Juliet opens the curtains in Miami, a plane with the Oceanic logo flies by.
• The medicine Juliet tests on her sister is labeled "TEST SAMPLE A4993-E3".
• Rachel's pregnancy test is from Widmore.
• The bus that hits Edmund has an ad for Apollo candy bars.
• Juliet says she has been on the island for 3 years, 2 months, and 28 days, which would make her arrival time September 5th, 2001. This date is within a few months of Desmond's arrival.
• Edmund Burke is yet another philosopher's name thrown in the universe of Lost.
• In Edmund Burke's office a sailing trophy can be clearly seen.
• In the Room 23 video, a picture of Alvar Hanso can be seen.
• In the Room 23 video, Gerald DeGroot can be seen, just as Sawyer and Kate are leaving.
• The guard (Aldo) that they pulled the “Wookie Prisoner Trick” on was reading “A Brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking

I found a website last night for Mittelos Bioscience. (http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/testindex.html) It seems to have disappeared for now. If it comes back, go into the Projects section. A dialog box eventually comes up. If you enter the username as "jburke" and the password of "rachel" and e-mail appears for Juliet from Rachel. Clicking on the attachement will bring up one of the more bizarre videos I have ever seen. It starts out with the baby Juliet helped conceived and is interupted by a distorted picture and voice. It's kind of hard to make out what is being said, but there are references to the Hanso foundation killing people for "hundreds of years". If this ever comes back up, it's definitely worth a look. BTW - I wonder if it's coincidence that Hanso's daughter's name is Rachel Blake.

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Flashes Before your Eyes

TITLE
This is an easy one. It refers to the life of Desmond flashing before his eyes after he turned the key. This episode marks one of the rare times where time travel is overtly mentioned. Sure, there have been plenty of time travel theories on the boards, but the characters on the show rarely mention it. Now, Desmond discusses it with a physicist for the first time on the show. But Desmond did not travel back in time. He wrestles with his own subconscious. It was all in his mind. But an explanation is needed. When Desmond turned the key, he was underground in the hatch and then underneath the floor. When the hatch blew\imploded how did Desmond get out onto the ground with no clothes and with very little injury? The same mystery applies to Jack when the plane crashed? How did he get out of that fast moving plane onto the ground with little injury? Note the closeup of the eyes of Desmond. Once again the eyes theme makes an appearance. They say that the eyes are the lamps into the soul. The best part of this episode was the end when we find out he was really saving Charlie.

A WHISKEY BEFORE DYING
Mister Widmore drinks some very expensive whiskey. One mouthful is more than Desmond can make in a month. Shall I guess at about $2000 per swallow then? If you drink whiskey too fast it can kill you. This was a story on Paul Harvey. I do not know the details so I will paraphrase:

John Doe broke the record for drinking a whole bottle of whiskey. John Doe drank a whole bottle of whiskey in 5.6 seconds … the funeral is Tuesday.

The bottle that Charlie brings Desmond is not the same bottle that Widmore had. We know this because Desmond looks surprised at the bottle. I think most likely this bottle came from the plane. Airlines do sell alcoholic beverages. Although this would have been a really expensive drink, and I have never heard of an airline carrying that on board. It could also have come from a passenger luggage I suppose.

In the interview Desmond notices the boat. I do not believe that this is not the same boat that he will take to the island however. Also notice the painting on the wall that reminds us of the weird wall painting in the hatch. If you look closely, you see the word NAMASTE written backwards on the painting. This is the same salutation that Marvin Candle gives in the Orientation film on the island. This may imply that Widmore has something to do with DHARMA. Did Desmond paint the wall in the hatch? We were never told who did it.

WHERE IS WALDO, I MEAN DESMOND?
As we saw in the season two finale, Penelope appears to be searching for Desmond. But how does she know to look for an electromagnetic anomaly? Although Desmond broke her heart as we see in this episode, she obviously still carries a torch for him. So much so that she has teams of men monitoring for the anomaly. Now that they have found it, will Penelope be showing up with a rescue party any time soon? NO! Nowhere did it say that Penelope was specifically looking for Desmond when the anomaly was found. She could have been looking for something completely different. Mister Widmore is a powerful man with money. It is quite possible that he is involved with DHARMA as a financial backer. He may know Alvar Hanso. If so, then word could have leaked to Penelope about this anomaly and the hatch.

LIFE FLASHES
After Desmond turns the key, you very rapidly see a series of still shots - mostly of Desmond. All show his face. There is one where Desmond just found out he had crashed the flight, a few of him in hatch and another of Desmond on the beach. The only other person who appears in any of these frames is Locke who appears in only one.

OTHER RAMBLINGS
Desmond has met two LOSTaways before coming to the island: Jack and Charlie.

In the vision, Desmond predicts when it will rain just as Locke has done.

In the vision, he throws the ring into the water, but his subconscious implied that in the original history that he did not even buy the ring. So which is it?

In the vision, Desmond stares at a military recruiting poster. Later he joins the military but ends up in prison. Widmore is there when he gets out.

The precognitive ability of Desmond starts after he turns the key. Did the anomaly cause it then?

Since it has been announced that Charlie will die, I do not think he will. He may die and then be revived like Jack has done for him already. Remember when Jack and Kate found Charlie hanging in the tree?

Charlie and Hurley will have to explain to Sawyer why the raided his stash.

The porn magazine in the stash of Sawyer is called PLAYPEN and features the girls of Fiji. The cigarettes are called Brezze and there appears to be some chocolate cream cookies.

Charlie and Hurley have no idea that they are drinking from a bottle of whiskey that costs thousands of dollars. But Desmond does know which is why he laughs when he sees the brand name.

It seems surprising that Charlie does not believe that Desmond could see the future. Charlie did believe that Claire spoke to a real psychic.

The beeping on the microwave sounds the beeping Desmond heard in the hatch.

A package was due to be delivered at 8:15. These are two Hurley numbers and the flight was flight 815.

The full name of Charlie is Charlie Hieronymus Pace.

The best friend of Desmond is a physicist named Donovan.

The theme of destiny appears again but this time it is called a path instead of a destiny. Desmond was destined to come to the island and was meant to push that button.

Desmond is lured to join the military because Widmore asks if he has any military experience and he tells Desmond he is unworthy to marry his daughter. Desmond thinks he can become a man of worth by joining the military. The recruiting poster says: Honor adventure. Become a man you can be proud of.

One commercial that plays during this episode is for a movie called THE NUMBER 23. Twenty three is a Hurley number. One must be observant. Any coincidence that the producers chose to advertise during LOST?

NEXT WEEK
Three of the mysteries of LOST will be answered. It is about time! Give me those answers! Give me!

I am still working on my novel.

Until next week. Namaste brother,

Taken from another board...author unknown (see other link above in thread)

Hi everyone. Sorry there was no Lost ping this week. With weather related early releases and trying to play catch up at work, I just lost track of time (see what I did there??).

Anyway, check out Lucky9teen's posts (129 & 130).

I haven't actually seen the episode. Let's just say the DVR almost went through the window. Then we realized it was user error.

Luckily, they are replaying this week's episode at 9pm next week, if anyone else missed it.

"Charlie and Hurley have no idea that they are drinking from a bottle of whiskey that costs thousands of dollars."

Yeah, but Hurley could buy ten cases to disinfect his toilet just by using the change under the cushions of his couch...

Okay, ladies and gents, I cannot give you much info about tonights episode, other than the TV Guide write up - because I refuse to visit any of the boards since I haven't seen last week's episode.

Episode Detail: Stranger in a Strange Land
As Jack and the Others engage in a power play, Juliet's future is hanging in the balance; Kate, Sawyer and Karl (Blake Bashoff) continue on their flight from “Alcatraz.” Isabel: Diana Scarwid.

It is Jack-centric. We will learn some more about his tattoos.

Now, please cross your fingers and say a little prayer that the cable guy will show up in time to install our new cable service, after we cancelled Dish in disgust. We've already missed Prison Break and 24 this week. And I still need to catch last week's Lost. There's a lot riding on this guy showing up and getting the job done!

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Stranger in a strange land
TITLE
Stranger in a strange land. Has the double meaning of Jack on vacation in the flashbacks, and Jack with the others. Jack in Thailand mirrors Jack being with the others. In both cases Jack is an outsider. He is an outsider in Thailand and he is an outsider with the others. He is a stranger in a strange land.

JACK BE NIMBLE
Achara said Jack was a leader. This harkens back to season one when Jack reluctantly takes on the leadership role which he maintains to this day. That is why Locke, Desmond and Sayid met with Charlie and Hurley privately to tell them about Eko. They knew the leadership of Jack was not around.
The gift that Achara has reminds me of Walt being special with his power. She is special too with her gift. But her power seems to be different that the power of Walt. Kind of like the different superfriends you see on the NBC show Heroes.

VACATION
Jack was on vacation in Phuket, Thailand. Phuket is an island. The timeline is probably just after his divorce. Phuket has been mentioned before by Jack. They speak Thai there. Those guys beat up Jack because he received a tattoo that was a privilege only for the people of Achara to enjoy. I do not know who the people of Achara are. Are they all Thai or just a small group?

NAMASTE
Notice the greeting that Achara shares with business associates. It looks identical to the namaste greeting that Marvin Candle gave on the orientation video. The whole series of LOST seems to have an Asian theme that pops up now and again. Marvin Candle gives an Asian greeting, two of the LOSTaways are from Asia, Boone had a Chinese symbol on his shirt, the Chinese tattoo and now we see Jack in Thailand, an Asian country. I do not know what significance this has. It is just something I noticed.

GET ALONG HOME CINDY, CINDY
We finally learn that Cindy, who was taken, is ok. She was not killed. Also other tailies are ok and on the island. Cindy seems to have turned partially Stepford wife on us. When Jack asks her about her being taken she says: They are not - it is not that simple. But why is it not that simple? She was kidnapped right? What was she trying to say here? We know that THE OTHERS view themselves as the good guys, and Cindy seems to have bought into this idea. Let me finish her sentence for you: They are not - the bad guys. That is what she was going to say. What has Cindy learned about the others since she was taken? I wish Jack had asked her more questions. Also, why are the tailies there to watch Jack? Seems kind of bizarre. Especially since Jack was a passenger on 815 just like them. Also note that Cindy is a flight attendant. This is the first time we have learned that any of the crew have survived. The pilot was knocked out by the monster in episode one!

I SHOT THE SHERIFF (NOT REALLY BUT I WANTED TO)
Isabel, or the sheriff, speaks Chinese. Yet another Asian connection. There is a theory going around that the Chinese discovered America before Columbus. You can read about it in a book called 1421. It is fascinating. It would be neat if this was worked into the show somehow.

URSA THEODORUS
The teddy bear constellation does not really exist, but what does exist is Ursa Major and Ursa minor which mean big bear and little bear. Karl has never heard of the Brady Bunch which ended its run in 1975. That hints that it is possible that Karl has lived his entire life on the island. I estimate he was born around 1986. It is hard to believe that anyone who has lived in America has not heard of the Brad Bunch especially with the revival series (circa 1990) and the subsequent Brady Bunch parody movies.

ABOUT THE TATTOO
Although the tattoo literally says: He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us. The real meaning to Jack is that he is a leader, a great man and this makes him lonely, frightened and angry. That is why Jack says to Isabel: That is what it says, but that is not what it means.

THINGS TO WATCH
Karl in the boat says: God loves you as he loved Jacob. This is one of the sayings that appeared on the screen in the brainwashing room.
Sawyer says that Kate hooked up with him because she thought he was a dead man. Really?
Did anyone get the feeling that Jack and Juliet might hook up when all this is over?
The DHARMA logo on the podium in the room where the trial of Juliet was taking place. So we have DHARMA brand podiums now? Is there anything they do not do?
What was that mark on the back of Juliet? It sort of looked like the shape of the map drawn in the hatch.
What will happen to Karl?
After Jack gets the tattoo, word gets around very quickly. Even the soda selling kid knows he has the tattoo. How did everybody find out? Did Achara tell everyone? That seems unlikely.

WILD TANGENT THAI
I do not know much Thai, but I will put here what I know. My roommate in college was from Thailand. I will write it phonetically so you can pronounce it. Sun did this for Jin when he went on the boat with Sawyer, Michael and Walt.

Ah tee tawn day pahchow lacoon josephi, cherma, cherma along due see cherma cherma see muh long due.

I will leave it to you to translate. That will be my personal LOST mystery gift to you.

Ping-a-ling...

It actually took me 3 days to watch last week's episode. Oh, how I love my baby. But she makes me too tired to make it to 10pm.

Tricia Tanaka Is Dead
Hurley's discovery of a wrecked car sends him on a mission of hope---for himself and the troubled Charlie, who's freaked out about Desmond's prediction of his demise. And Kate and Sawyer reunite with their fellow castaways, but Kate is still torn about leaving Jack behind with the Others. Flashback sequences explore Hurley's relationship with his father (Cheech Marin) and developments just prior to his journey to Australia. Carmen Reyes: Lillian Hurst. Rousseau: Mira Furlan.

Spoilers Crazy Frenchwoman Rousseau (Mira Furlan), meanwhile, is back on Feb. 28. That episode will also have Hurley finding a junked car -- for reals, that's what it says -- on the island.

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Tricia Tanaka is dead
TITLE
Refers to death easily finding Hurley as he mentions in the episode. Before, I had always associated the numbers with misfortune, but not death specifically. This episode seems to concentrate on the death aspect of the numbers. In the episode Numbers, while Hurley is speaking to his accountant a body of a man flies past the window, and we saw his grandfather drop dead during a press interview with his family. So Hurley does have some history with death.

DHARMA BRAND
The Lost Report is brought to you by Dharma brand beer. Dharma beer, we hope you survive to drink it.

METEOR MAN
Mister Clucks getting hit by a meteor has been referred to before in a previous episode, so I knew it was coming. What I did not know was that Hurley had purchased the chicken place. I also did not know that Tricia Tanaka was inside at the time. The odds of anyone actually dying from a meteor hit are in the billions to one. In the past, planets got hit by comets, meteors and asteroids all the time. For evidence of this, just look at the moon. It is filled with craters! The earth also took its share of hits. Why then is the earth not covered with craters like the moon? Because earth has a thing called erosion that the moon does not have. Volcanism also helps hide evidence by filling in craters. And it was not an asteroid that hit the chicken place. It was too small to be called an asteroid. Hurley does not seem to know the difference between a meteor and an asteroid. If you want to see similar movies on this topic check out Deep Impact and Armageddon.

DEATH BECOMES HIM
It is interesting to note when Hurley says that death has a way of finding him that Vincent shows up with the arm. Hurley blames himself for the future death of Charlie. My theory is that Charlie will die but will be resuscitated as Jack did for him when he hung from the tree. This way, the premonition of Desmond is fulfilled, but we still get to keep Dominic in the cast which is something I think we all want. I hope the writers are reading this.

LUCK BE A LADY TONIGHT
The father of Hurley tells him to make his own luck. But this is exactly the same thing that Mrs. Toomey said to Hurley in Australia. It looks like that advice is pounding Hurley over the head. No wonder he was so extremely grateful to Danielle who was the only one who believed that the numbers could be cursed. The scene with the bribed psychic kind of puts a damper on the whole cursed thing. Since the psychic told him he was cursed, and we know it was a setup by his father, this may be an indication that Hurley is not cursed and that there is another explanation for the numbers. That is my idea. As a magnet attracts paper clips around it, so Hurley seems to attract misfortune. This is at least the second time that tarot cards have made an appearance in the show. The last time was in the episode raised by another when Locke was turning them in a dream by Claire. The psychic Claire went to did not use tarot cards. The whole psychic scene was the writers way of inserting the idea of psychic phenomena into the show which may lead us to use it as a possible explanation for things on the island such as the misfortune of Hurley and the specialness of Walt.

CHEECH AND CHONGS NEXT MOVIE
The comment of his father to Hugo that I will be here when you get back may foreshadow hope that some day Hurley will be able to leave the island and go back home to his father. Then again, maybe not. When Hurley went missing, do you think his father got control of the money? Did Hurley leave a will? That might make an interesting future episode.

ALEX
Finally, what we have all been waiting for. Drum roll please … Danielle finally learns about Alex, her long lost daughter. I have predicted a reunion before the end of the season. We will see if I am right. That might be a great thing to put into the season finale. But that would make Ben not her real father as Danielle killed her husband. When Kate goes to find Danielle, notice the net on the ground where she originally had captured Ben.

HOPE
Hurley getting the car started brings him hope and some fun. Hope because it shows that a good thing can actually happen to him. Did you notice that the area where they found the car was nowhere near a road? Yes, Sawyer did say that they were building a road, but you still have to get the car there, and it seems bizarre that anyone would drive that car through a jungle. There is the remote possibility that the road is now covered up by the jungle but still. So how did the car actually get there? I was wondering if the monster threw it there. Remember how the monster threw Eko around and also the pilot? It could explain how the Black Rock got there. Although the problem with that is that means the monster would have to pre-date the 20th century which is before DHARMA which would cast doubt on the explanation of Danielle that the monster is a security system.

LITTLE HOUSE
The show Little House on the Prairie premiered in 1973 and starred Michael Landon (Highway to Heaven) and Melissa Gilbert (Babylon Five) and others. The show was often called simply Little House despite the amazement of Kate. I also watched this show and saw the first episode the night it premiered.

COMING SOON
It would be interesting to see an episode flashback of Roger the workman. Look for the LOST spinoff series, the adventures of Roger the workman. In the first and final episode, watch Roger on a beer run crash his car. What was Roger doing with all that beer? Looks like the DHARMA folks were not always so business oriented and liked to have fun too. The eight track player went on right away when Hurley started the car. It appears that Roger was more on a joy ride than on a work related issue.

I actually quite enjoyed this episode. It was very lighthearted. And I enjoyed that it did not deal with any of the Lost mysteries or convoluted story lines.

Good episode...but I'm not sure I liked that they blew up the flame station (and any chance at fixing communication equipment to help them get off the island)...

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Enter 77
Greetings fellow LOSTaways, welcome to the LOST report coming to you live via tape delay.

TITLE
Enter 77 refers to the key code entered by Locke into the computer to blow up the station. Since this is mostly a Sayid episode, why call it Enter 77? Although this only took a moment, it has a profound impact on THE OTHERS who now can no longer communicate with the outside world.

I AM A WARRIOR
Hurley has spoken of himself as somewhat of a warrior back home. He is also extremely good at backgammon. Here, we learn that he is also a very good ping pong player after having played so much at the institution and in his basement.

DHARMA
The fate of DHARMA has finally been revealed. They were killed when they launched a war against THE OTHERS or the hostiles as they are also called. We know that THE OTHERS think of themselves as the good guys. Is this because they fought DHARMA? Perhaps they view DHARMA as evil. Mikail said that DHARMA was very secretive and rich. The proverbial wealthy industry with unethical research comes to mind. Alvar Hanso seems to be a wealthy guy. If you saw the movie Serenity, there was a similar theme about an evil corporation. If DHARMA had ventured into unethical scientific experiments, it would explain why they did not contact authorities on the mainland for help with the hostiles. Mikail said that the satellite dish had not worked for years, but this must be a lie for two reasons. Ben had a video of the 2004 world series which he got from having some kind of contact with the mainland, and also when Jack asked Tom why they were on the island, Tom said ever since the sky turned purple … In this episode we learn that his comment was a direct reference to the hatch blowing up (imploding), and also that this knocked out their communications.
We see Marvin Candle again on the TV, the same guy we saw on the Orientation video for the Swan station and at the Pearl station. It is clear that DHARMA was aware of the hostiles on the island as is clearly evident by Desmond having guns in the hatch and the comment Kelvin made about the hostiles. So when was the war between DHARMA and the hostiles? My guess is that it took place some time between 1991 and 2004. I base this on the fact that Kelvin was around in the Gulf War with Sayid before he joined DHARMA. DHARMA may have perhaps persuaded Kelvin to join DHARMA with an ad that said save the world (cheerleader?).

HATCH LIST
Add another hatch to the list of hatches we have now seen. We know there are six of them. We have seen: Swan, Arrow, Medical, Pearl and the Flame hatch. The Flame is the one that looks least like a hatch. You have to go inside a house to get to it. That leaves just one more hatch for us to see. Season finale perhaps?

SAYID
How did Sayid end up in France? He was running away from Iraq after freeing Nadia. Notice the assumed name. When Sayid sees the cat at the flame station, he is distracted because the cat looks like the cat that the wife of Sami held when she asked him to come clean. That was when Mikail shot him. Sayid shows mercy to Mikail, just as the wife of Sami showed him mercy. In the basement of the Flame hatch, Sayid looks at two manuals. One is called Food Drop Protocol and the other Operations Manual. The food drop may be one like the food drop we saw at the Swan station when the whole station went into lockdown and suddenly food arrived apparently from the sky. Notice the fresh meat in the fridge. Either a cow was recently slaughtered for food or a food drop brought in meat. The place is also loaded with DHARMA brand stuff. The last scene of the episode has Sayid staring at that cat. Again he is reminded of the mercy shown to him. Unfortunately he leaves poor Nadia alone in the jungle. Will someone help the poor kitty!

NUMBER CODES
At the computer, Locke discovers the following key codes:
Pallet Drop 24
Station Uplink 32
Mainland Communication 38
Sonar Access 56
Hostile incursion 77

No Hurley numbers here. The writers may be purposely avoiding them so as not to send us off on a tangent.

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMMM
The black woman would rather die than be taken prisoner and give up information. Her name might be Bea.
When Hurley returns the PLAY PEN magazines to Sawyer, there are two issues that are from different months, yet one of the featured stories is exactly the same in both issues. It is: Nun turned stripper. An oversight perhaps?
Otherville is known as the barracks.

QUIZ
Are you a true LOSTaway? Try to answer this question without rewatching the episode. How many points did Sawyer score in the ping pong game?

NEXT WEEK
Sawyer will have no nicknames for anybody.
The security system that protects Otherville (the barracks) is revealed. I think the monster is also part of this system. Question: Was the monster created by THE OTHERS as a weapon against DHARMA?

Claire becomes suspicious of Charlie when he behaves strangely after she comes up with an idea that could get everybody rescued; tension mounts between Sayid and Locke as they continue their trek to rescue Jack. Christian Shephard: John Terry.

Countdown to the “game changer”

So, if any of you follow spoiling/speculation about Lost you might know this already. But for those of you who don’t…

Tonight (episode 3.12) we learn how 2 Losties are related. Apparently, the writers really do think we’re too dumb to have figured that one out already. (Hint: It’s a Claire flashback).

Next week (episode 3.13) is Locke centric and we will F-I-N-A-L-L-Y learn why Locke was in the wheelchair. Prepare for disappointment.

2 weeks (episode 3.14) is – get this – Paolo and Nikki flashback. The only thing good about Paolo and Nikki so far (other than being really hot!) is that they set Sawyer up for the best line ever in Lost – “who the hell are you”? See, even Sawyer doesn’t know who you are. Well, this episode is supposed to be the bees knees, the dogs bollocks, etc., etc. The “game changer.” The “character bomb.” Nope. No overhyping there. Oh, but for those of you Star Wars fans (Wookie Prisoner trick anyone?), Billy Dee Williams will be a guest star.

Finally, and where the heck are Rose and Bernard?
-----
Also, Lucky9teen has agreed to ping you guys with his post-show synopsis. Look for those every week!
